Indonesia Young Leaders Programme

INTRODUCTION

The INSPIRASI Programme, a collaboration between UnionAID, the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sport, and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, is a transformative initiative designed to empower young civil society leaders from East Indonesia. With the support of Bursa Pengetahuan Kawasan Timur Indonesia (BaKTI) and Auckland University of Technology (AUT), INSPIRASI provides a unique opportunity for emerging leaders to enhance their knowledge, skills, and confidence, enabling them to contribute to the sustainable development of their communities and the wider East Indonesia region.

The programme focuses on fostering cross-ethnic and cross-religious collaboration, inspiring participants to think creatively about the challenges in their communities. Participants explore sustainable development approaches, both in East Indonesia and New Zealand, and work together on solutions that address pressing local issues.

At the heart of INSPIRASI is the Action Project component. Each young leader identifies a specific development challenge within their community, formulates a research question, and designs a participatory action project to address it. These projects reflect the participants' dedication and innovative thinking, as well as their commitment to making a tangible impact in their respective regions.

This report serves to document and celebrate the achievements of the INSPIRASI programme participants. It highlights their action projects, showcasing the creativity and hard work of these young leaders as they tackle complex challenges and contribute to the sustainable development of East Indonesia.
